CSA / Weekly Veggies Basket Program
For Summer and Fall of 2024
The CSA is closed for winter. Check back in the spring time!
CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. It’s a weekly vegetable basket subscription service where you join the farm as a CSA member.
In doing so, you support a local farm by buying directly from them on a regular basis.
The farm in turn can then offer you better prices and service. It is a win-win relationship that supports local economy, local production, and sustainable farming practices that heal the environment.
What you get:
Every week you get a box of vegetables from our farm.
We’ll be growing:
- Lettuces, Spinach, Bok Choi, Sprouts
- Tomatoes, Peppers, Eggplants
- Zucchinis, Cucumbers, Squash
- Carrots, Beets, Radishes, Turnips
- Kale, Chard
- Onions, Garlic, Scallions
- Herbs like Cilantro, Basil, Mint, Oregano, Thyme, Sage
We have a choose-your-own-veggies system. Each week you get an email where you can choose from the list of what is available. You can also go with the old-school way and let me, the farmer, choose what veggies go in your share.
What you choose, though, is not guaranteed, and I’ll always ask you for alternatives, in case I can’t provide what you chose.
We sometimes bring in produce from our friends at Lunar Rhythm Gardens like Squash and Sweet Potatoes, to give our CSA members more variety. They are our great friends, and you are encouraged to sign up for their CSA instead of ours, if it is closer to you or if you prefer it. They have a great winter CSA as well.
When:
June 21st to November 8th of 2024, for 20 weeks.
Where:
Pick up times are:
- Fridays at the farm, (1522 Moore Dr, Cavan) from 1pm to 6pm
- Sundays from 10am to 2pm at the Clarington Farmer’s Market (near the Diane Hamre rec center)
- Thursdays at 5pm to 6pm at the Millbrook/Cavan REKO.
Though I am often able to accommodate a different pick up time sometimes if you need. Just not always.
How much:
We offer 2 different payment options:
Weekly Payment:
Pay $25 each week. If you want to skip a week, simply don’t pay and don’t fill out the form, and you won’t get a share that week. We ask that you pay $50 upfront to claim your spot. That will go to the first 2 weeks of your pick-up, and then you can start paying the $25 weekly on your 3rd week.
This is meant for those who will be away a lot (like missing more than 4 weeks) , or just don’t want to be too committed.
Full Payment:
Pay $400 upfront. That is $20 a week, for 20 weeks. So you get a 20% discount. You will get a box every week. If you will be away, you can either give up that box, or pick up a double box next week, or some other arrangement. But you won’t get the money back.
This is meant for those that are committed to cooking and eating our farm’s fresh produce every week, and want a nice discount for doing so.
What is CSA?
Community Supported Agriculture is a concept in which consumers invest in a local farm and receive a “share” of the harvest each week. It is a way to re-establish local food production and community resilience by connecting consumers directly to producers.
How is the food grown?
This garden is grown with no pesticides of any kind, using the most natural
methods I can find. I draw from permaculture, natural farming, regenerative ranching, and no-dig philosophies for my garden’s inspiration.
I’m very passionate about the care and respect I have of our garden and the land we are blessed to live on. I strongly encourage you to visit our farm and see for yourself that we are the real deal. Just call or email me if you are interested in visiting. You can also go to our about us page for more info on our farming practices.
Follow our Progress
You can follow us on instagram at @fields_farmstead to see what we’re up to currently. We (try to) regularly post garden updates, so you can see how the garden is doing, and what veggies you might be eating soon.
